SB4 – Water Matters
- SB 4 addresses permitting and cost recovery for large, long-haul surface water transfers and establishes requirements for pipeline projects. This bill unanimoulsy passed third reading on the House floor and is eligible for a concurrence vote. It will then head to the Governor’s desk for a final signature.
SB 28 – Ground Water Emergencies
- This bill, brought forward by the Indiana Farm Bureau, creates a mechanism for resolving disputes between significant water users—defined as those capable of pumping over 1,000 gallons per day.
- It directs the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to investigate water impairment complaints between users. A motion to concur was filed on this bill this week and passed the Senate floor. This bill will now move on to the Governor’s desk for a final signature.
